As part of its commitment to promoting a safe and inclusive work environment, the Federal Project Management Unit (FPMU) of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) organized an in-house sensitization session on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) for all staff and workers.

The session was designed to raise awareness of the different forms, root causes, and consequences of GBV, as well as to provide practical guidance on prevention, early identification, and appropriate response. Staff were also educated on acceptable workplace behavior and the importance of cultivating a respectful and professional work culture.

In his opening remarks, the National Coordinator of RAAMP, Engr. Aminu Mohammed Bodinga emphasized the significance of the training. He described the session as a timely and essential step in equipping FPMU staff with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and address GBV-related issues. He urged participants to pay close attention, internalize the key messages, and uphold the Code of Conduct.

This sensitization will benefit every member of the FPMU team. It’s not just about compliance—it’s about doing the right thing, every time. Let us all commit to the rules of the game and help create a workplace where everyone feels safe and respected,” Engr. Bodinga stated.

Following his remarks, the session was facilitated by a Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Consultant, who led an interactive and informative discussion on GBV concepts, case scenarios, risk mitigation measures, and survivor-centered response approaches. The consultant also emphasized the need for collective responsibility in fostering a safe, inclusive, and gender-sensitive work environment.

To reinforce the lessons learned and institutional commitment, all staff signed a Code of Conduct affirming their pledge to uphold professional ethics, promote gender equity, and maintain zero tolerance for any form of harassment or abuse.

This initiative is part of RAAMP’s broader strategy to mainstream gender and protection principles across all levels of project implementation, ensuring that all stakeholders operate in a respectful, accountable, and supportive environment.
