The National Office of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) expresses deep sorrow over the passing of Engr. Matawal Dauda Mafwil, the Plateau State RAAMP Coordinator. Engr. Matawal passed away on December 1, 2024, leaving behind an indelible mark on his community and colleagues.
A man of joy, generosity, and inspiration, Engr. Matawal was known for his infectious laughter, sharp wit, and unwavering dedication to the mission of RAAMP. He transformed every interaction into a meaningful experience, creating an environment of warmth and camaraderie that inspired his colleagues.
Born on July 7, 1957, at Vom Christian Hospital in Plateau State, Nigeria, Engr. Matawal pursued a distinguished career as an engineer. His expertise and commitment earned him respect both locally and internationally. As RAAMP Coordinator, his leadership was instrumental in advancing the project’s mission of improving rural access and agricultural marketing in Plateau State.
Engr. Matawal’s funeral, held in Jos, brought together members of the RAAMP family from across the nation to pay their respects. He was laid to rest at his residence on Old Lamingo Road, Jos.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mrs. Larai Dauda Matawal; his children, Mrs. Dirmwa Dauda, Mr. Fukki Dauda Matawal, Mrs. Maryann Nanjwan Damap, and Mr. Elijah Dauda Matawal; seven grandchildren; seven sisters; a brother; and numerous other relatives.
The RAAMP family extends its heartfelt condolences to Engr. Matawal’s family, the Government of Plateau State, and the Plateau State RAAMP team. His absence is a profound loss, but his legacy of laughter, leadership, and commitment will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
